

From the historic town of Camden, South Carolina, the works of Rodgers Boykin was first recognized as prolific and extraordinary in his early school years. Rodgers, a native of Camden, began expressing thoughts and depicting life in the form of art and interior design over 40 years ago.
Rodgers Boykin is a graduated of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. His art has traveled throughout his home state and around the United States, landing him numerous awards for excellence and quality. The character and beauty of his work reflect who he is as a person and best be stated in his own words, “A reflection of what I feel—my joy, my hope, my sorrow, and my yesterdays and tomorrows are sprinkled throughout my work, speaking to the soul of each of up in silent, strong and moving ways.” Whether his work depicts the playfulness in children or the defiance and determination of men, Rodgers is a master at capturing the essence of humanity.
A prize winning artist, Rodgers’ art work has made its way to the Thelma Hill Center in Brooklyn, New York, featured at libraries around the state, exhibited at colleges and universities around the county, and captured on pages of ”How We Live”, magazine in Columbia, SC, “The New Crisis” magazine with special recognition as a featured artist “with great promise.” The magazine is published by the National NAACP. In 1998, his “Healing Hands” painting won him the highest award at the South Carolina State Fair in art competition.
In addition, Rodgers’ work won him a gold medal and place in the National Scholastic Art Exhibit in New York City. His art work is in his heart, and his heart is in his gift from God, who has led him to be one of the most critically acclaimed artists from the state of South Carolina. He gives back to the community through the donation of his art work to such organizations as the Auntie Karen Foundation, Inc., Prevent Child Abuse SC, Artist Against Aids, Greater Columbia SCSU Alumni Ass., SCSU Marching Band & SCSU Athletic Ass.
Rodgers Boykin, a man of talent and love for art, is currently self-employed, yet, still maintaining time to extend his teaching hands and skills to the children in the school communities around the state of South Carolina.
